I was born and raised in Guatemala City, Central America. While in Guatemala, my first job was as an elementary school teacher. I came to Florida in the mid-eighties to continue my education.  Always an artist at heart, I received a BA in Interior Design and a Master’s in Art Education and Art Therapy at Florida State University.

Combining my passion for teaching and art, I worked over 27 years in public schools as an art teacher until retirement in September 2020.

My experience in interior design, art education and the day to day work in being a full-time art teacher during all my professional career, have allowed me to work on various mediums, however, my passion has always been painting.  These past years, as my two children left for college, I found the needed time and space (you do need a room for all the stuff!) to concentrate on the art of painting. And most recently, I began my new phase in life with a renewed interest in pursuing my passion for painting.

In many of my paintings, my love for the sky and ocean themes show and turn into abstract hints of nature. As I begin to put my ideas on the canvas, here is where I feel the best. My work evolves from the blank surface to the colors, the texture, and the materials.
